ProSys Information Systems and Disaster Tech Labs to Aid the Philippines Disaster Relief Effort.

Atlanta, GA, December 2, 2013:  ProSys Information Systems, based out of Atlanta, GA, and Disaster Tech Labs, headquartered in Galway, Ireland, are teaming together to provide IT relief and communications abilities to areas affected by the recent natural disaster in the Philippines.

Disaster Tech Lab is currently deploying to Cebu, Philippines to provide disaster relief Internet access and communications service for local communities, hospitals, schools and other disaster relief camps. The team’s Area of Operations will be from Cebu City to approximately 40 miles north reaching the northern tip of Cebu Island. The overall goals are to provide temporary Wi-Fi access for the rebuilding effort and improve current Wi-Fi deployments. Another goal is to build temporary “Internet Cafes” which will allow local residents to communicate with their families on other islands and in other countries.

This will be done using mainly Aruba Wi-Fi equipment, Point-to-Point and Mesh links, and VSAT backhaul services. The team will also be completing Wireless Surveys using industry standard survey software to determine the state of Wi-Fi, 2G, 3G and other cellular coverage in our Area of Operations.  One example of a children’s home and camp that the team will be assisting is the Arapal Camp in Bogo, Cebu and can be seen here: http://disastertechlab.org/2013/11/29/arapal-camp-bogo-cebu/.

ProSys is contributing a substantial amount of equipment that will not only support the initial phase of the relief deployment, but assist in the 3-6 month duration of the entire deployment.
